We've been out taking photos of the lovely fungi which has popped up after the rains. Elder Munchkin found a beauty but we can't identify it. It looks similar to a Russule, but the underneath is spongelike, not striped like the Russules are.
If anyone can identify it we'd be grateful!

It looks to me like it could be a phlebopus marginatus :)
definitely one of the Boletes.
Wow! I think you're right. Salmon is definitely the colour of it. How the heck did you know that? I spent ages searching images and couldn't find it. proving once again that you are awesome in so many more ways than I even know! :)
I am google queen. It was the first image that came up :)
I typed in "dark red brown cap fungus western australia"

Actually, on further search it could be a Ruby Boletes (Boletes rubellus)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boletus_rubellus
How big is it?
It was about 12cm across. So I think the phlebopus marginatus is more accurate and fits it's habitat description better too.
My thanks be to you, Your Google Grace!
